Sam Johnson (R-TX) to prohibit Congress from cutting off funding for American troops in harm’s way. If allowed, Republicans will offer an amendment by Rep. Johnson that reads, in part:
House Democrats this morning kicked off an historic debate on the future course of the Global War on Terror by voting en masse against a GOP effort to bar Congress from cutting off funding for American troops in harm’s way, endorsing plans by House Democratic leaders to begin cutting off funding for the war effort in the coming weeks.
At a press conference this morning, Rep. Sam Johnson (R-TX) joined House GOP Leaders in voicing opposition to the non-binding resolution by Democrats that fails to protect funding for American troops in harm’s way. Rep. Johnson is a veteran of the Vietnam War who 34 years ago today enjoyed his first full day of freedom after seven years in Vietnamese prisoner of war (POW) camp.
