Boehner Backs President Bush’s Call for Balanced Budget, Expanded Earmark Reforms

House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) issued the following statement backing President Bush’s call in a Wall Street Journal op-ed today for a balanced budget within five years and greater restraint in federal spending:
    “I was pleased to see that President Bush announced today he will submit a plan to balance the budget in February. I support the President’s efforts to balance the budget within five years while making tax cuts for working families permanent and supporting our troops.
