Speaker's Blog
Remember how Democrats kept claiming that their budgets – which never balanced – were still “balanced?”
A few years back, Speaker John Boehner spoke at the National Right to Life convention in Pittsburgh. In it he paid tribute to his mother, Mary Anne Boehner.
“It wasn't easy for my mom to have 12 children,” said John. “But I’m glad she did.” He explained how his parents worked hard and sacrificed to make sure he and his siblings could attend Catholic schools. “For them, a good education meant more than just the ABCs and 1-2-3s. It was also important that we learned about deeper values. Respect for life was at the top of that list.”
This week’s Republican address focuses on family, from wishing all the nation’s moms a Happy Mother’s Day to promoting common-sense legislation that will help make it easier for Americans to balance work & family.
Rep. Martha Roby (R-AL) calls on the Democratic-run Senate to pass the Working Families Flexibility Act, common-sense legislation that helps Americans better balance the demands of work and family.
