Yesterday, the House voted to ensure the federal government remains open, continuing to fund basic services essential to millions of Americans, like paying our men and women in uniform, funding veterans’ programs, supporting millions of seniors who rely on Social Security and Medicare, and much more. The House also delivered on its promise to listen to the American people and defund the president’s health care law that is already increasing costs and costing jobs.
Now the Senate must act. As Speaker Boehner said yesterday:
“Our message to the United States Senate is real simple: The American people don’t want the government shut down, and they don’t want ObamaCare. The House has listened to the American people, now it’s time for the United States Senate to listen to them as well.”
