Starting Today: More Speaker Boehner Events to Be Streamed on Speaker.gov/Live

As part of the ongoing effort to keep our pledge to make the House more open and accessible, we’ll be adding Speaker Boehner’s press conferences to the list of events you can watch live online via desktop and mobile devices.

This Congress was the first in history to stream its opening session live online on Facebook. And since then we’ve routinely streamed major speeches by Speaker Boehner, including his jobs address in September on Liberating America’s Economy.

But starting today at approximately 11:15 a.m. ET, you can catch press conferences featuring Speaker Boehner live on Speaker.gov/Live, Facebook, and UStream. While we will continue to post the Speaker’s remarks here and on YouTube, and CSPAN and TV networks often carry his press conferences as they happen, you can now watch these events for yourself here, start to finish, unfiltered.

What’s more, you can watch these live streams on most mobile devices as well, including iOS and Android-based phones and tablets. The House Clerk recently made similar functionality available for video on HouseLive.gov.

Going forward, we will post the times of live streamed events on Speaker.gov/Live in advance, and will often Tweet them out as well. Because this is a new initiative we’re still working out the details, but our eventual goal is to stream most of Speaker Boehner’s public events in the Capitol live online.

Again, the first press conference to be streamed on Speaker.gov/Live and other platforms is today at approximately 11:15 a.m. ET. Tune in and let us know what you think.
