WASHINGTON, DC – House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) today applauded House passage of legislative branch funding legislation that puts the House on track to save taxpayers a total of $594 million on House operations since 2011:

“American families have to do more with less in the Obama economy, and the People’s House should be no different.  That’s why we’ve kept our pledge to cut waste and set an example of smaller, less costly, and more accountable government.  Under the Republican majority in the House, we have reduced spending on House operations by nearly 14 percent, putting us on track to save taxpayers approximately $600 million. We’ve done this while also bolstering services to the public, a credit to the thousands of dedicated men and women who work here every day.  As I’ve made clear, the people’s priorities are our priorities, and we will continue working to grow the economy – not the government – to help put more Americans back to work.”
