House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) today announced that Mike Catanzaro will serve as the new energy policy advisor for the Office of the Speaker. Catanzaro replaces Jay Cranford, Boehner’s energy policy advisor since 2006. Boehner released the following statement:

“Mike Catanzaro is joining our team at a time when one of our top priorities is addressing rising gas prices that threaten families and small businesses. Mike has a deep understanding of the issues impacting American job creators and energy producers, and will play a key role in the American Energy Initiative – our ongoing effort to increase energy production, stop government policies that are driving up gas prices, and create new jobs. I’m proud to have him on our team.

“I also want to wish Jay Cranford the very best in his future endeavors. Jay helped shape our new majority’s common-sense approach to reducing America’s dependence on foreign energy and creating new jobs, and he will be missed.”

NOTE: Mike Catanzaro most recently served as Deputy Staff Director for the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee where he managed legislative and administrative aides focused on energy and environmental policy issues. Before that he served in various positions in both the private and public sector, including in roles with the Bush Administration and for former Rep. David Hobson (R-OH).
