WASHINGTON -- House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) today issued the following statement after the Supreme Court temporarily blocked one of the key rules in President Obama's regulatory assault on coal:

“This ruling is a victory for the American people and our economy. President Obama’s attempt to remake the country's entire energy sector to further his own climate agenda is more than costly, it’s unlawful. This rule should be struck down permanently before coal country is destroyed completely, and American consumers are consigned to higher energy prices. Congress passed legislation to reject this rule in December. Republicans are working on a plan to fight back against these lawless executive orders and restore the Constitution.”

BREAKING NEWS: the Supreme Court just blocked President Obama’s executive overreach against American-made energy. This is a victory for the American people and our economy.
