WASHINGTON — This week, House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) selected Rep. Jackie Walorski (R-IN), a member of the House Armed Services Committee, to deliver the Weekly Republican Address on Saturday, February 27. In her address, Rep. Walorski will discuss the House’s commitment to prevent the transfer of Guantanamo Bay detainees to American soil.

“As elected officials, we have no greater responsibility than protecting the American people from threats facing our nation,” Rep. Walorski said. “I cannot emphasize enough that bringing terrorists to the U.S. is extremely dangerous and detainees sent to other countries will likely rejoin the fight against America. This will only jeopardize our national security and hamper our ability to defeat our enemies both at home and abroad. The message from the American people has been clear: keep terrorists off American soil.”

Rep. Walorski is a lifelong Hoosier, born and raised in South Bend, who has dedicated her career to helping Hoosier families. She is grateful to serve the people of Indiana’s Second District in the 114th Congress, where she serves on the House Armed Services, Veterans’ Affairs and Agriculture Committees, and chairs the Nutrition Subcommittee. Rep. Walorski is honored to serve the brave men and women of our Armed Forces in many ways, including improved support for our nation’s veterans.
