Speaker Boehner Announces Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler to Deliver Weekly Republican Address

House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) today announced that Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler (R-WA) will deliver the Weekly Republican Address on Saturday, March 19.  A member of the House Small Business Committee, Rep. Herrera Beutler will highlight the new House majority’s efforts to help end uncertainty for job creators and foster an environment in which they can begin hiring again.

“I’m grateful for this opportunity to shine a light on America’s need for new jobs,”
said Herrera Beutler.  “My neighbors and friends in Southwest Washington have been coping with double-digit unemployment for years, and they sent me here to make ‘jobs’ the top priority of Congress.  I’m honored to talk to communities across America with a new message: this House is working to clear a path for our job creators.”

Jaime Herrera Beutler was elected to Congress in 2010 by the people of Southwest Washington state.  A 32-year-old resident of the region, Jaime represented Southwest Washington in the state legislature from 2007-2010, where she earned a reputation as an independent voice focused on job creation and fiscal responsibility.  Prior to her elected public service, Jaime was as a Senior Legislative Aide to another Washington state Member of Congress, Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers.

“Helping small businesses get back to creating jobs has been the focus of our new majority and it will be the focus of this address,”
Speaker Boehner said.  “Jaime has already established herself as an independent voice for the families and small businesses in her district, and I’m pleased she’s agreed to deliver our weekly address.”

Rep. Herrera Beutler’s address comes at the end of a week in which House Republicans held an
interactive forum with job creators to discuss policies needed to end the uncertainty plaguing businesses of all sizes, and heralded the release of a new study by Joint Economic Committee (JEC) Republicans showing that cutting government spending significantly will support private-sector job creation.

The text and audio of the Weekly Republican Address will be available tomorrow, Friday, March 18 at 3:00 p.m. EST on
