Speaker Boehner Applauds House Passage of the National Defense Authorization Act

WASHINGTON, DC – House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) issued the following statement today praising House passage of the FY13 National Defense Authorization Act (H.R. 4310):

“When Congress sends our men and women in uniform into harm’s way, it does so with the sacred responsibility to provide them with the resources they need to carry out their difficult and dangerous missions.  Today, the House made good on that commitment by passing the FY13 National Defense Authorization Act.  This legislation, which passed the House with bipartisan support, gives our military the tools and funding it needs to address the global threats we face, and provides the support we owe to our Armed Services personnel and their families.

“From the military bases in our own communities, to the remote outposts of Afghanistan, the men and women of the Armed Services and their families are making countless sacrifices on behalf of our nation every day. We are eternally thankful for all that they do, and remain steadfast in our support of their mission. Achieving success in Afghanistan is critical to ensuring stability abroad, and security here at home.  We must send a clear message to those fighting on the front lines of the war against terrorists that we will continue to stand with them.

“I want to thank Chairman McKeon for his leadership on this legislation, and all of the members of the committee for their unwavering support of our men and women in uniform.  In recognition of Armed Forces Day tomorrow, I would also like to express my profound gratitude to all those who have so selflessly and honorably served our nation, and put their lives at risk in defense of our freedom and security.  You are, and will forever remain, in our thoughts and prayers.”
