Speaker Boehner: Bipartisan TRAIN Act Puts the Brakes on Job-Crushing Regulations

House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) released the following statement praising the House for passing the bipartisan Transparency in Regulatory Analysis of Impacts on the Nation (TRAIN) Act (H.R. 2401), another element of the Republican Plan For America’s Job Creators:

“The bipartisan TRAIN Act puts the brakes on several government regulations that threaten jobs, and stops Washington from imposing these new restrictions without first examining their full impact on our economy. This bill is a good example of both parties working together to remove government barriers to job growth, and I thank Reps. John Sullivan and Jim Matheson for their leadership.

“While there are reasonable regulations that protect our children and help keep our environment clean, we need to stop unelected bureaucrats from imposing excessive regulations that unnecessarily increase costs for consumers and make it harder for our economy to create jobs.  President Obama says he’s willing to consider reining in regulations that hurt job growth. With millions of Americans out of work and the unemployment rate more than eight percent, I urge him to withdraw his veto threat, and work with us and Senate Democrats to get this bill enacted as quickly as possible.”

NOTE: The TRAIN Act is a bipartisan bill cosponsored by Reps. John Sullivan (R-OK) and Jim Matheson (D-UT). According to the House Energy & Commerce Committee, the bill “requires an interagency review of the cumulative impacts of EPA rules on jobs, energy prices, electric reliability, and America’s overall global economic competitiveness.” Visit jobs.GOP.gov for more information on the Republican blueprint for job creation.
