Washington, D.C. – House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement on President Trump’s State of the Union address:
“America is better off because of President Trump’s policies. As we heard this evening, in just a few short years this administration has carried out a pro-growth, forward-thinking agenda that has delivered for the people we have the privilege to serve. More than half the country believes we are better off today than we were three years ago, and it is that ‘Reagan Standard’ every elected leader should hold themselves to: have we delivered on improving Americans’ lives? In President Trump’s case, the accomplishments speak for themselves. We are living in the midst of a ‘Great American Comeback’ that has returned the United States to a position of admiration, prosperity, and respect. President Trump laid out his vision and now it is our responsibility in Congress to finally work together to sustain and build on this upward trajectory.”
