During a press conference this week in which Speaker Pelosi attempted to shift the subject to anything but her unprecedented unilateral impeachment inquiry, she mentioned her “hope” to “renew” conversations about infrastructure.
Given there already is an infrastructure bill that has received bipartisan enthusiasm from both the House Freedom Caucus and the Congressional Black Caucus, it appears, yet again, that Speaker Pelosi’s words are far from the truth.
The Generating American Infrastructure and Income Now (GAIIN) Act is a bipartisan bill that “would require the Department of Agriculture to sell its distressed assets on the open market and then direct the Department of Treasury to distribute the proceeds to communities below the national poverty line for infrastructure projects that would directly improve their economic viability.”
Speaker Pelosi has refused to support or even talk about bipartisan legislation like this, as well as countless others.
Instead, Speaker Pelosi and her Democrat majority have been caught up in a manic attempt to impeach the duly elected President of the United States in an effort to undue the 2016 election. In the process, they have blatantly ignored or purposely politicized most other issues that matter to the American people or would progress the state of our country.
It’s past time for members of Congress to start doing what Americans sent them to Washington to do. While Democrats play politics with impeachment, here are just a few things they are NOT doing:
- Repairing the country’s crumbling infrastructure
- Passing the bipartisan U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement
- Lowering prescription drug prices
- Ending surprise medical billing
- Securing the border
