Boehner Turns Up Pressure on Sec. Clinton to Turn Over Email Server | Speaker.gov

Last week, House Select Committee on Benghazi Chairman Trey Gowdy (R-SC) called on Sec. Clinton to turn over her email server to a neutral third party to ensure congressional investigators and the American people have all of the information they’re entitled to regarding the terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya that took the lives of four Americans.  Rep. Susan Brooks (R-IN) echoed that call in the Weekly Republican Address, as have numerous analysts and editorial boards.  At a press conference earlier today, Speaker Boehner turned the heat up even further:

  • “John Boehner to Hillary Clinton: Turn Over Server”  “Speaker John Boehner has joined a growing number of Republicans who are calling on Hillary Clinton to turn over her personal server to an independent arbitrator for investigation.” (Politico)
  • “Boehner Calls on Clinton to Hand Over Email Server to Third Party” “‘I think this is the fairest way to make sure that we have all the facts that belong to the public,’ Boehner told reporters at a news conference.” (Reuters)
  • “Boehner Urges Hillary Clinton to Turn Over Email Server” “House Speaker John Boehner (R., Ohio) on Tuesday called on former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to turn over her personal computer server to a neutral third party, saying that handing over the equipment was necessary to ensure that Americans had all the facts about what happened in 2012 when a U.S. ambassador and three other Americans were killed in an attack on a diplomatic outpost in Benghazi, Libya.” (Wall Street Journal)
  • “Boehner to Hillary Clinton: Turn Over Email Server to ‘Neutral Third Party’” “The Speaker pushed back at Democrats’ complaints that multiple congressional probes were ‘overkill’ and Clinton was receiving extra scrutiny because she was likely to announce she was running for president in 2016.  ‘Nothing has changed,’ Boehner said, adding, ‘the Benghazi committee is focused on getting the facts about what happened with regard to Benghazi.’” (CNN)
  • “Boehner Joins Call for Outside Look at Clinton E-Mail Server” “Republican U.S. House Speaker John Boehner joined calls for Hillary Clinton to turn over her private e-mail server to an outside arbiter, saying the ‘American people deserve all the facts.’  Boehner said an outside review is the only way to determine if congressional investigators into the deadly 2012 attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, have what they need.” (Bloomberg)
  • “Boehner Calls for Clinton to Turn Over Server to ‘Neutral Third Party’” “Mr. Boehner said the way forward ‘is for the secretary to turn over all of her emails that pertain to the public.’  ‘But some neutral third party is going to have to make some decision about what documents are, quote, personal, and which ones are public record,’ he said. ‘And thus far, she’s been unwilling to do this.’” (Washington Times)
  • “Boehner: Third-Party Review of Clinton Emails Needed” “‘The American people deserve all the facts about what happened in Benghazi,’ Boehner said. ‘Now that’s why it’s so important for Secretary Clinton to turn over her personal server to a neutral third party. And I think this is the fairest way to make sure that we have all the documents that belong to the public and, ultimately, all the facts.’” (Washington Examiner)
  • “John Boehner Says Hillary Clinton Should Turn Over Personal Email Server” “Speaking to reporters at a Capitol Hill news conference, Boehner said such a step is needed to determine which emails sent by Clinton were official and which were personal. The former secretary of state has said she deleted emails she deemed personal and won’t turn over the server she used. Experts, meanwhile, believe that the deleted emails may be recoverable in some form.” (MarketWatch)
