House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement after House passage of the Agriculture and Nutrition Act of 2018 (H.R. 2), also known as the “Farm Bill”:

“America’s economy is booming, but we still can do more for our workers, especially our farmers and ranchers.

“This Farm Bill offers stability for farmers and ranchers across the country, in the heartland and in California’s Central Valley back home. The bill makes important investments in the farm safety net, agricultural research, and other important programs that will help America’s farmers continue to feed the world.

“The bill also includes workforce development measures to help disadvantaged Americans hone their talents and secure good-paying jobs. At a time when our economy has more available jobs than workers, every American should be given the opportunity to enter the workforce and break the cycle of poverty.

“I am proud of the work Chairman Conaway and members of the Agriculture Committee have done for farming communities and disadvantaged Americans. This Farm Bill will bear good fruit in the years ahead.”
