Washington, D.C. – House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement on the House sending a Keystone approval bill to the President’s desk:
“The people want Keystone, and today the House is sending a bipartisan bill that approves Keystone to the President’s desk. President Obama can’t hide behind delays and reviews anymore. It’s time for him to make a decision.
“Unfortunately, the President has already threatened to veto this bill because, according to the Administration, this bill ‘seeks to circumvent longstanding and proven processes for determining whether cross-border pipelines serve the national interest.’ The only thing ‘longstanding’ and ‘proven’ about the process for the Keystone pipeline is that it never ends!
“Six years is more than enough. It’s time for the President to stop equivocating, look the American people in the eye, and answer why he is obstructing America’s energy infrastructure. The American people—especially the over 40,000 people who would get a job because of Keystone—deserve an answer.”
