Washington, D.C. – House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement on the passage the Farm Bill:

“For most Americans, shopping for groceries, gas, and clothes is second nature. Thanks to technological advances and productivity gains, these errands have become more affordable and sustainable over time. But that progress doesn’t just happen on its own. It is the result of tireless effort by our country’s farmers, ranchers, and dairymen to feed, fuel, and clothe our fellow citizens and the world.

“The Farm Bill gives these communities the certainty they need to continue their vital work. It also takes critical steps to help California communities prevent and withstand natural disasters like wildfires by, among other things, expanding the ability of states, counties, and tribes to work with the federal government to clear dead trees and overgrown forests. Reforms like these ensure that this year’s Farm Bill will have lasting impact on our state and country.

“As the representative of the most productive agricultural region in the country, this bill hits home. But you don’t have to live in the Central Valley to appreciate how America’s farmers, ranchers, and dairymen strengthen our communities and country every day.”
