President Biden’s Border Crisis is about to get much worse. Next month, his administration is allowing Title 42, a public health emergency authority that authorizes U.S. Border Patrol agents to quickly expel illegal immigrants back across the border, to expire.
To get a better understanding of the impact that ending Title 42 will have on our country and U.S. Border Patrol operations, House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) led a group of House Republicans to the southern border. While in Eagle Pass, Texas, the Members heard directly from soldiers in the Texas National Guard, visited a Border Patrol holding facility, and received an operational briefing from Border Patrol agents on the ground in the Del Rio Sector.
The Members joining Leader McCarthy included Republican Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik (NY-21), Rep. Gary Palmer (AL-06), Rep. Tony Gonzales (TX-23), Rep. Randy Weber (TX-14), Rep. Michael Guest (MS-03), Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21), Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (GA-14), Rep. Diana Harshbarger (TN-01), and Rep. Blake Moore (UT-01).
During their trip, Border Patrol agents explained that they are seeing a surge in the number of arrests at the southern border, including over 221,000 in March alone — and estimate that there are thousands of gotaways every single day who are never arrested.
In his press conference, Leader McCarthy called on House Democrats to support Border Patrol operations and the American people by working with House Republicans to keep Title 42.

“To Bishop Evans’ grandmother, our thoughts and prayers are with you. Your grandson did not die in vain. He was a Specialist in the National Guard [who] risked his own life for a person he did not know because he could not watch that person drown… We want [her] to know that her grandson did not die in vain.”
“A former Secretary of Homeland Security under President Obama, Jeh Johnson, said 7,000 people a day coming across the border is unsustainable — that is where we are. Thirty days from now, President Biden wants to lift Title 42… if its unsustainable today, what will it look like a month from now?”
“We hear Democrats from the other side of the aisle say [President Biden’s administration] should not lift [Title 42], they have an ability to do more than just say words, they can vote. In Congress, we have what is called a discharge petition… we just need a handful of Democrats to join us to bring the bill up for a vote. So don’t just say it in a press release, say it through your actions.”
“A country without a secure border is not a country. And no longer is it just border cities, every city in America is a border city. If you’re wondering how that can be, just read a newspaper of who’s died from fentanyl in the last week. It is the number one killer of Americans from ages 18-45.”
