Pelosi, Gomez Announce Friendly Wager on Giants-Dodgers NLDS
Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Congressman Jimmy Gomez (D-CA) announced the details of a friendly wager over the National League Division Series between the San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Speaker has wagered a San Francisco delicacy, Ghirardelli Chocolate. Congressman Gomez has wagered chocolate candies from Valerie, a local Los Angeles confections shop.
“This year’s Giants are an extraordinary team, who captured the hearts and imaginations of every Bay Area fan with their magical season,” said Speaker Nancy Pelosi. “As a long-time fan, who has proudly rooted for the Giants through thick and thin, I cannot wait to see them prevail in the NLDS and ultimately bring home a World Series victory for my beloved city of San Francisco. While I always enjoy sharing some of my favorite chocolates from Ghirardelli with my colleagues, I look forward to trying the Los Angeles delicacies from Congressman Gomez when he has to pay up – because the Dodgers are no match for the hustle and heart of our Giants!”
“There’s a saying on Capitol Hill to never bet against Speaker Nancy Pelosi,” said Congressman Jimmy Gomez. “However, this bet is too sweet to pass on! There’s nothing better than watching the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series again, unless it’s watching our Boys in Blue repeat as World Series champions while enjoying a tasty treat from Ghirardelli.”
This year’s NLDS matchup between the Giants and Dodgers is the first time in their 131-year rivalry that the two teams have met in the MLB postseason. With the best record in baseball this season, the Giants emerged on top of the National League West – one game ahead of the Dodgers.
