Dear Colleague to All Members on Thanksgiving Holiday
Thanksgiving is a beautiful, all-American holiday, when our nation gives thanks for the many blessings that have been bestowed upon our great country.
Tragically, this Thanksgiving comes at a time of immense heartbreak, as our nation mourns the deaths of over 250,000 Americans to the coronavirus. This vicious virus has torn through all our communities, and on this day in particular, we feel its devastating impacts, as many observe the holiday virtually, without the in-person comforting presence of family and friends.
During this extraordinarily challenging time, we must have empathy and compassion for all who are suffering. We have a moral imperative to help them in a meaningful way. Let us recall the words of Ecclesiastes: to everything, there is a season, a time for every purpose under the heavens: a time to heal. Together, let us honor our solemn and urgent responsibility to ensure that this is “a time to heal.”
Today and always, we thank God for blessing America with the greatness of the vision of our Founders and the courage of our heroes in uniform and their families.
Best wishes for a hopeful, happy Thanksgiving.
