Pelosi Statement on Supreme Court’s Decision to Delay Review of ACA Lawsuit
Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued this statement following the decision by the U.S. Supreme Court to not expedite review of Republicans’ Texas v. U.S. lawsuit, in which, last month, the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals sided with the Republicans and instructed the District Court to redetermine how much of the Affordable Care Act to strike down:
“Today’s disappointing decision by the Supreme Court only prolongs and worsens the uncertainty and fear that Republicans’ anti-health care agenda is inflicting on American families. The longer this GOP lawsuit continues, the longer it will needlessly drive up costs and endanger life-saving protections for people with pre-existing conditions.
“The Trump Administration and its GOP allies have engaged in an outrageous sabotage campaign to systematically destroy protections for the millions of Americans with pre-existing conditions as well as every last benefit and protection provided by the Affordable Care Act. In the courts and in the Congress, the Democratic House Majority will continue to fight relentlessly to defend Americans’ health care as we work to preserve protections for people with pre-existing conditions and deliver lower health costs and prescription drug prices for all Americans.”
