Pelosi Statement on the Passing of Charlotte Shultz
Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued the following statement on the passing of Charlotte Shultz, who served as Chief of Protocol for the State of California and for the City of San Francisco:
“The passing of Charlotte Shultz brings sadness to the City of San Francisco, the State of California and our entire community.
“For more than five decades, Charlotte truly interpreted public service as putting San Francisco and California in the most beautiful light. She was revered and respected because of her grace and her kindness to all who came in contact with her. She always provided a warm welcome, whether to the Queen of England or to those most in need at a civic event. Her personal happiness, humor and optimism were a source of joy to all who knew her.
“Paul and I and our children, especially our daughter Nancy Corinne, all loved Charlotte. Whether as a public figure or a personal friend, she was greatly admired and will be deeply missed. May it be a comfort to all her loved ones that so many join them in mourning their loss at this sad time. May she rest in peace.”
