Pelosi Announces Additional Committee Assignments for 117th Congress

Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced today that the House Democratic Steering Committee has nominated incoming Freshmen and returning Members for appointments to the House Committees on Armed Services, Education and Labor, Financial Services, Foreign Affairs, Homeland Security, Oversight and Reform, Science, Space and Technology, Small Business and Veterans Affairs.  The nominations will now go to the full Democratic Caucus for approval.

“In the 2020 election, the American people overwhelmingly cast their ballots for a historically diverse and dynamic Democratic House Majority that will fight For The People,” said Speaker Nancy Pelosi.  “Reinvigorated by our outstanding Freshmen Members, strengthened by our returning Members and inspired by the people whom we are honored to represent, our Majority is ready to Build Back Better in a way that will advance justice and prosperity for all Americans.  Our Committees, enriched by the addition of these Members, are ready to drive transformational progress.”

The Steering Committee approved the following new Committee members:

Armed Services Committee:

  • Congressman Joseph Morelle of New York
  • Congressman Kai Kahele of Hawaii
  • Congresswoman Sara Jacobs of California

Education and Labor Committee:

  • Congressman Mondaire Jones of New York

Financial Services Committee:

  • Congressman Jake Auchincloss of Massachusetts
  • Congresswoman Nikema Williams of Georgia

Foreign Affairs Committee:

  • Congresswoman Kathy Manning of North Carolina
  • Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland of Washington

Homeland Security Committee:

  • Congressman Ritchie Torres of New York

Oversight and Reform Committee:

  • Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York
  • Congresswoman Katie Porter of California  
  • Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib of Michigan
