Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi released the following statement announcing that the House Democratic Caucus has approved Congressman Ted Deutch of Florida to be Chairman of the House Ethics Committee for the 116th Congress:

“House Democrats are thrilled to welcome Congressman Ted Deutch as Chair of the Ethics Committee, where his towering integrity and firm commitment to fairness and justice will be invaluable to our mission to restore transparency, ethics and accountability to the Congress,” said Speaker Nancy Pelosi.  “Since day one, Congressman Deutch has been a powerful voice for the American people and a relentless champion for the public good, and we are all confident that his leadership will continue to strengthen and reinvigorate this critical committee in the years to come.”

“Our new Democratic Majority is For The People, and is swiftly ushering in a new era of clean government in Washington,” continued Speaker Pelosi.  “With Congressman Deutch at the helm, the Ethics Committee will spearhead our work to return dignity and accountability to the Congress, and ensure our elected officials are held to the highest ethical standards.  Together, we will restore the people’s faith that government works for the public interest instead of the special interests, ensuring that all Members of Congress faithfully honor the people’s sacred trust.”
