Pelosi Remarks at Photo Opportunity with King Abdullah II of Jordan
March 13, 2019
Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi joined King Abdullah II of Jordan for a photo opportunity at the top of a bipartisan leadership meeting in the Capitol. Below are the Speaker’s remarks:
Speaker Pelosi. It is really a great honor, officially, personally, in every way, to welcome back to the Capitol His Majesty, King Abdullah II.
With his leadership, America has a true partner: a partner for peace, a partner for progress.
I was just being reminded of when he used to – we were talking about His Majesty bringing his son to some meetings and I said, ‘I remember when your father brought you.’ That’s over 25 years I have been working with his family as an appropriator, as a Leader, as a Speaker.
And it’s just remarkable to see the depth of our friendship, the breadth of His Majesty’s knowledge on the subject, and wisdom that we always look forward to taking advantage of.
So, whether we’re working for prosperity and security and peace in the Middle East, whether we’re working for putting a stop to terrorism in the world, globally, as well as regionally, or whether we, again, look forward to working together to advance the economy of the region and, therefore, the prosperity for many more people.
I particularly want to thank His Majesty for what I saw with bringing a delegation to Jordan. And many of our colleagues have seen the hospitality and generosity extended by His Majesty and Her Majesty and the people of Jordan to the refugees from Syria.
Again, Your Majesty, welcome to the Capitol. I hope you feel very welcome here.
We have boundless good wishes to you.
