Pelosi Announces Emily Berret as Deputy Chief of Staff
Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi today announced that Emily Berret, longtime Director of Operations in the Office of the Speaker, has been named Deputy Chief of Staff, following the departure of Diane Dewhirst. Berret joins Deputy Chiefs of Staff George Kundanis and Drew Hammill in this role.
“Today, with pride, I am pleased to announce that Emily Berret, who has served for nearly a decade in my office, will take on a new role as Deputy Chief of Staff in the Office of the Speaker,” said Speaker Nancy Pelosi. “Emily is professionalism and public service personified. Her strong institutional knowledge and mastery of Congressional operations will continue to serve this institution and the American people well, as she begins this new position.”
Emily Berret has served in the Office of the Speaker and, before that, the Office of the Democratic Leader, since 2013, most recently as Director of Operations. Prior to her service in the Capitol, she served in the Obama Administration in roles in the White House Office of Management and Administration and the Council of Economic Advisers. She received her Master’s degree from The George Washington School of Political Management and Bachelor’s degree from Alvernia University.
