Pelosi Statement on Departure of DNI Coats

July 29, 2019

Washington, D.C. — Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued this statement after President Trump announced the departure of Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats:

“The departure of DNI Coats is bad news for the security of America.  As a Republican Senator from Indiana, a George W. Bush-appointed Ambassador to Germany and Director of National Intelligence, he was respected by those on both sides of the aisle as an American patriot.

“DNI Coats’ successor must put patriotism before politics, and remember that his oath is to protect the Constitution and the American people, not the President.”
