Dear Colleague on Next Actions on Build Back Better Act

September 24, 2021
Press Release

Dear Democratic Colleague,

Today is an important day for freedom in America, as the House rejects the shameful actions of the Texas legislature and the Supreme Court by passing the Women’s Health Protection Act.  Thanks to the persistence of Congresswoman Judy Chu and the leadership of the Pro-Choice Caucus, House Democrats are ready to protect the freedom of all women all over America.

Also today, we are moving forward to advance President Biden’s Build Back Better legislation, which reflects Democrats’ vision for the future.  Tomorrow, the House Budget Committee will hold their mark-up on the Build Back Better Act to take it closer to passage.

Many thanks to our Committee Chairs, Members and staff for their leadership, wisdom and time to make this progress possible.  Budget Committee Chairman John Yarmuth has released the text of the Build Back Better Act for your review, which can be viewed here.

As negotiations continue, there may be changes.  The Rules Committee, under the leadership of Chairman Jim McGovern, will take up the Build Back Better Act after the Budget Committee completes its mark-up.

Thanks to all Members for your proposals, which reflect the values of our Caucus to meet the needs of the American people in a time of intense dialogue.  That intensity continues as we move forward to pass two jobs bills next week: the Build Back Better Act and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Framework.

Thanks for your leadership For The People.
