Pelosi Statement on Biden Administration Declassification of 9/11 Documents
Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued this statement after President Biden signed an executive order beginning a declassification review of documents related to the September 11th terrorist attacks:
“In 2001, I served as the Ranking Member of the Intelligence Committee and hence in the leadership of the bipartisan Joint Inquiry into the Terrorist Attacks of September 11, 2001, and I have long supported the declassification of the documents related to September 11th.
“As Speaker, I fully support President Biden’s decision to order a new declassification review of documents related to the September 11th terror attacks, including the previously classified documents related to Saudi Arabia’s involvement.
“When we talk about September 11th, we tread on sacred ground. Twenty years later, we continue to hold dear the memories of those we lost and those who rose to heroism that day. In the aftermath, it is imperative that we find the full truth of that horrific day. All Americans – particularly the families of those who perished – have a right to know the truth.
“In the House, I fully support House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff and the Committee as they oversee this process.”
