Washington, D.C. - Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced today that she has named Nadeam Elshami as her new Deputy Communications Director.  Elshami, who now serves as Senior Communications Advisor for Assistant Democratic Leader Richard Durbin and who has worked for Senator Barbara Boxer and Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, will begin his new duties early next month.

'Nadeam will bring the savvy and knowledge he has earned with his 15 years of experience working in both the House and the Senate,' Pelosi said.  'As Deputy Communications Director, he will be an integral part of House Democrats' efforts to spread our message of a new direction for all Americans.'

'I look forward to working with Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats as we continue to build on Democrats' first 100 Hour agenda to take America in a new direction,' Elshami said.  'The House Democratic Caucus is diverse, energetic and enthusiastic and ready to deliver for the American people.  I am honored to be part of the team.'

Elshami holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Evansville and lives in Alexandria, Va.

Elshami will replace Jennifer Crider, who will leave to become Communications Director at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
