Photos from Greenland

May 28, 2007

Below are photos from the Congressional Delegation (CODEL) boat tour of Disko Bay, Greenland. They were in Disko Bay to examine the ice flow from glaciers. During the peak summer melt months, enough water melts from Greenland’s glaciers everyday to supply New York City with water for a year. In Greenland, Speaker Pelosi saw the first-hand evidence that climate change is a reality commenting, “there is just no denying it. We saw the impact on the local people there, on their hunting, their fishing, their economic survival. And it wasn’t caused by the people in Greenland. It was caused by the behavior in the rest of the world.”
