25 years ago, before John Boehner ever set foot inside the halls of Congress and before the "bridge to nowhere" was even a thing, he made a promise to the people of Ohio's 8th District who elected him: no earmarks, period.

He kept that promise (just one of many), and beginning in 2006, John Boehner led the way for an across-the-board ban on all earmarks in Congress—a ban which stands to this day.  "It's been one of the best decisions I ever made," recalls Speaker Boehner in the video above.
