Today on the Speaker’s Balcony, we welcomed students who have received a quality education with the help of school choice programs. Here from around the country--including Wisconsin, of course--they are on Capitol Hill to share their stories about the difference these initiatives have made in their lives. Their message is simple: school choice works.

This spring, Congress took action to expand school choice, increasing support for charter schools, and saving the groundbreaking DC Opportunity Scholarship Program. It is the only program in America where the federal government empowers parents to pick the schools that best meet their kids’ needs.  The Washington Post reported that advocates for the program “were relieved after spending years fighting for its survival.” We have turned the page on years of uncertainty, and most importantly, put a better education in the reach of more children.
