WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative John Boehner (R-OH) today released the following statement on the appointment of U.S. Trade Representative Rob Portman as the next White House Director of the Office of Management & Budget:
- “Rob Portman will be an ally for Republicans in Congress as we work to spend Americans’ tax dollars wisely and keep America prosperous. His experience as Trade Representative, as a member of the House Budget Committee, and as a liaison between Congress and the White House make him uniquely suited for this role.
“Rob and I have known each other for a long time – he’s been in our shoes before and he understands the importance of good communication between the White House and Congress. We have a lot on our plate and I know he’s up to the task.
“Rob’s appointment is another feather in the cap for the Buckeye State, which he loves dearly. He’s a great guy, a hard worker, and a great addition to the President’s team -- I look forward to working with him again.”
