Boehner: Yet Another Month of Robust Job Creation |
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. House Majority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) issued the following statement today highlighting the continued economic expansion, lowering unemployment rate, and new job growth in the March employment report announced this morning by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL):
“The pro-growth, pro-family policies championed by congressional Republicans and President Bush have helped American businesses continue to provide thousands of new job opportunities for our nation’s workers every month.  By making the President’s tax cuts permanent and allowing the American people to keep more of their own money, we can address the pocketbook challenges working families face every day and make our economy even stronger.”
DOL announced today that 211,000 jobs were created in March, for a total of more than five million new jobs since August 2003, and more than two million in the last year alone.  In addition, the unemployment rate fell to 4.7 percent – lower than the average of the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s.
