A Fairer, Simpler Tax Code to Support Hardworking Families | Speaker.gov

WASHINGTON, DC – House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) issued the following statement applauding House passage of the Student & Family Tax Simplification Act (H.R. 3393) and the Child Tax Credit Improvement Act (H.R. 4935):

“Making the tax code simpler and fairer is good for jobs and economic growth, and for American families barely treading water in the Obama economy.  The child tax credit legislation we passed today supports working families by eliminating the marriage penalty and better aligning the credit with the higher costs parents face.  We’ve also passed a bill this week that will make it easier for students and their families to utilize the tax credits available to them to make college more affordable.   Both of these common sense, bipartisan bills reflect our continuing focus on making Americans’ priorities our priorities and deserve an immediate vote in the Senate.”

NOTE: House Republicans have previously passed four bills to extend and make permanent certain tax provisions aimed at boosting economic growth and helping the private-sector create jobs.  Learn more at speaker.gov/jobs.
