WASHINGTON – House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) today announced that Rep. John Katko (R-NY) will deliver the Weekly Republican Address on Saturday, February 6. Katko, a former federal prosecutor and leader of the Homeland Security Committee Task Force on Combating Terrorist and Foreign Fighter Travel, will discuss Republicans’ efforts to keep Americans safe and ensure that a new law designed to strengthen our visa waiver program is properly enforced.

“This is no time to lower our guard,” Rep. Katko said. “Now that we’ve acted to close critical gaps in our security, we need to keep them closed so that terrorists and nefarious actors can’t do us harm. In this address, I will provide the American people with an update on what we are doing to protect our homeland and hold the Obama administration accountable.”

“The first responsibility of the federal government is to keep the American people safe,” Speaker Ryan said. “John Katko has been at the forefront of congressional efforts to strengthen our nation's security. I appreciate him delivering our weekly address on this important issue.”

Background. Congressman John M.
