WASHINGTON—Today, House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) announced that Rep. Mimi Walters (R-CA) will deliver the Weekly Republican Address on Saturday, August 20. In the address, Rep. Walters will discuss the national security plank of the #BetterWay agenda House Republicans introduced earlier this summer, and how it would make America—and the world—a safer place.

For the past eight years, President Obama's failed foreign policies have made us less safe,” said Rep. Walters. “The American people deserve a comprehensive national security strategy that directly addresses the challenges we face and those we will face in the future. House Republicans have put forth a better way to keep our country safe, and we will continue to fight for our national security.”

A confident America not only keeps its people safe, but helps promote peace in a dangerous world,” said Speaker Ryan. “Take a look around—it’s clear the Obama administration hasn’t held up its end of the bargain. We need a Better Way that keeps America safe and secure—and that’s what Mimi will discuss in her address this week.”

Congresswoman Mimi Walters represents the 45th Congressional District of California and currently serves on the House Judiciary Committee and the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. She previously served in the California State Senate from 2008–2014, representing California's 37th District of the California State Senate. A champion for job creation, lower taxes, less intrusive government, and fiscal responsibility, Congresswoman Walters has been active in conservative causes for many years.
