WASHINGTON—House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) today announced the appointment of Mike Ptasienski to serve as the fifth Inspector General of the House of Representatives. This appointment, made official on the House floor this afternoon, was done in consultation with the Majority Leader and the Democratic Leader. Ptasienski has served as Acting Inspector General since last October.
“Over his nearly 10 years of service in the House, Mike Ptasienski has become widely respected for his commitment to the integrity and accountability of all House operations,” Speaker Ryan said. “Mike recognizes the critical role that the Inspector General plays in strengthening the House as an institution, and I look forward to working with him in his new capacity.”
First established in 1992, the Office of Inspector General provides recommendations for improving House operations. A native of Waukegan, Illinois and graduate of Knox College with 25 years of audit and project management experience, Ptasienski first joined the Office of Inspector General in May 2008.
