WASHINGTON, DC – House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) today issued the following statement after the House passed the FY 2016 Intelligence Authorization Act (H.R. 2596):

“Today the House renewed its support, and just as important its gratitude, for the intelligence professionals who work day and night to keep Americans safe in a dangerous world.  This bill sustains and strengthens our capabilities to combat terrorism, cyberattacks, and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, while making every taxpayer dollar count.  Chairman Nunes is to be commended for his leadership, and the unanimous support this bill received in committee.

“Unfortunately, in what is becoming a pattern of recklessness, most Democrats voted against these critical resources to protect the nation.  Democrats are so hell-bent on extracting more money for the IRS and the EPA that they’re willing to block funding for our national security.  This is one of the most important votes we take, and Democrats gave it away to politics.

“I’m grateful for the sacrifices our intelligence professionals make, and I know the American people are as well.”
