Working to Prevent Human Trafficking & Support Its Victims |

WASHINGTON, DC – House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) issued the following statement applauding House passage this week of eight bills to help prevent human trafficking and support its victims:

“An estimated 300,000 children are at risk of being trafficked every year.  As the father of two wonderful daughters, the stories of suffering and pain that follow from these heinous crimes weigh heavily on me, as they do all Americans, and compel us to action.  Providing law enforcement and human services personnel the tools, resources, and training they need to prevent trafficking and to better support its victims is critical.  We’ve now passed more than a dozen bills to do so, and will continue doing everything we can to prevent one more victim from being robbed of his or her most basic human rights.”

NOTE: This is the second series of bills passed by the House to fight human trafficking.  Information on the prior series of five bills is available here.
