Speaker Boehner and Congressional leaders came together yesterday in National Statuary Hall of the U.S. Capitol to dedicate a statue of Dr. Norman E. Borlaug, "the man who saved a billion lives."

Last week, Speaker Boehner welcomed Irish prime minister Enda Kenny, President Obama, and Vice President Biden to the Capitol for the annual Friends of Ireland luncheon.

“It’s my pleasure to welcome His Holiness to the United States Capitol. … His fight for religious freedom and tolerance has always brought Congress together in a bipartisan fashion. It’s our pleasure to have him today to continue those conversations and to show him our support.”

State of the Union day is a busy day for everyone on Capitol Hill, and Speaker Boehner was no exception.

This afternoon, Speaker John Boehner met with the Ambassador of India to the United States, Dr. S. Jaishankar, in his office at the U.S. Capitol.

Last week marked the 150th anniversary of the completion of the Capitol Dome, and for Speaker Boehner, that meant an opportunity to showcase the building’s heritage and its future.
