In a ceremony held this afternoon in the Rotunda of the U.S. Capitol, leaders of the U.S. House and Senate presented a Congressional Gold Medal to Daw Aung San Suu Kyi in recognition of her steadfast commitment to human rights and for promoting freedom, peace, and democracy in Burma.

WASHINGTON, DC –  U.S. House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) will host a meeting of the presiding officers from the G8 countries in Washington, DC on September 7-9, 2012.  Participants will exchange views on a range of shared economic, fiscal, and security challenges, including job creation, global debt, and the impact of changing demographics on public policy.

During the month of July, Speaker John Boehner focused on stopping President Obama’s small business tax hike; paid tribute to Private First Class Jacob Chestnut and Detective John Gibson of the U.S. Capitol Police; remembered the victims of the tragedy in Aurora, and much more.

Speaker John Boehner joined Congressional leaders, family members, and members of the Capitol community during a ceremony in memory of Private First Class Jacob Chestnut and Detective John Gibson at the U.S. Capitol. On July 24, 1998, Officer Jacob J. Chestnut and Detective John M.
