Speaker Boehner expressed Congress’s appreciation to His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan for providing valuable leadership in the Middle East and playing a constructive role in the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.  The two met in Speaker Boehner’s ceremonial office in the Capitol.

House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) this evening participated in the annual lighting of the United States Capitol Christmas Tree.

House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) spoke on the House floor today in support of H.Res. 364, a resolution designating HVC-215 of the Capitol Visitor Center as the "Gabriel Zimmerman Meeting Room,” in honor of the first congressional staffer to give his life in the line of duty:

“An attack on one who serves is an attack on all who serve.  I don’t think I fully understood the meaning of those words until last January’s senseless assault on our fellow citizens and our most fundamental responsibilities.

Singer/songwriter Norah Jones delivered an amazing rendition of “America the Beautiful” at a Congressional Gold Medal ceremony today honoring NASA astronauts John Glenn, Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins, and Buzz Aldrin. The ceremony was held in the Rotunda of the United States Capitol Building. Watch her performance here.

House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) and congressional leaders hosted a Congressional Gold Medal ceremony today in honor of Japanese-American veterans of the 100th Infantry Battalion and the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, as well as the Military Intelligence Service.
