Washington, D.C. – House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement on House passage of an amendment to S. 2012, the Energy Policy Modernization Act, with provisions originally passed by the House in H.R. 8, the North American Energy Security and Infrastructure Act:

“Late last year, the House passed Chairman Fred Upton’s (MI-06) Architecture of Abundance legislation that contained key infrastructure provisions produced by Chairman Rob Bishop (UT-01) and the Natural Resources Committee to improve our energy infrastructure, expedite LNG permitting, and improve the security of our electrical grid. America’s energy policy is outdated, and these reforms are gravely necessary to provide stable and secure energy to the American people. The House also passed a number of other key federal land and environmental priorities in its motion to go to conference on an energy bill, including provisions to address California’s continued water crisis and help alleviate the drought. After years of Democrat obstruction, it’s time to send these reforms to the Presidents desk and get something done for the American people.”
