Churchill Ceremony Teaser Released |

With one week to go until the Capitol hosts a ceremony to dedicate a bust of Winston Churchill, Speaker Boehner has released a sneak preview of the event.

The teaser features Boehner’s December 2011 remarks in support of his resolution authorizing the placement of the bust, which is a gift from The Churchill Centre.  “Winston Churchill was the best friend America ever had,” Boehner said.  “This resolution will honor the former British Prime Minister by placing a bust of him in the United States Capitol.”

You’ll also see a brief clip from Churchill’s wartime address to Congress on December 26, 1941, in which he said, “Here we are, together, defending all that to free men is dear.”

Finally, the teaser reveals that next week’s ceremony in National Statuary Hall will be livestreamed.  Just go to next Wednesday at 11 am ET.  Stay tuned for more updates on our celebration of Churchill’s service to the cause of freedom and his friendship to the United States.
