WASHINGTON — Speaker Johnson released the following statement after the House passed H.Res. 1469, Ensuring Accountability For Key Officials In The Biden-Harris Administration Responsible For Decision Making And Execution Failures Throughout The Withdrawal From Afghanistan.
The resolution names and condemns key Biden-Harris Administration officials responsible for the failed withdrawal, including President Biden, Vice President Harris, Secretary Blinken, Jake Sullivan, John Kirby, and others.
“It is hard to articulate just how disastrous the Biden-Harris Administration’s reckless withdrawal from Afghanistan was. Yet, three years later, there has been no accountability from anyone in this administration: no one’s been fired, no apology has been issued, and neither President Biden nor Vice President Harris have even said the names of the 13 servicemembers killed at Abbey Gate,” Speaker Johnson said.
“That’s because since the day the decision was made, the White House has been more concerned with optics and public perception than the safety of American servicemembers and personnel. House Republicans will not allow this administration to rewrite history, and we are grateful to Chairman McCaul for continuing to fight for transparency and accountability.”
