WASHINGTON — Speaker Johnson issued the following statement upon reports that Democrat leadership is briefing its members on usage of the 25th Amendment, and in response to the 80+ Congressional Democrats calling for the impeachment and removal of President Donald Trump. The President was overwhelmingly elected by a majority of American voters and just secured a ceasefire agreement with Iran after completely wiping out their military and defense capabilities.
“Congressional Democrats have no message, no vision, and no leadership, and they are offering nothing to the American people except an irrational hatred of President Donald Trump. Democrats should be celebrating alongside the millions of freedom-loving people around the world who will undoubtedly be safer thanks to the destruction of Iran’s military and terrorist regime. Instead, Congressional Democrats have chosen yet again to pursue their favorite failed and pointless pastime: impeaching President Trump.
“This is as foolish as it is predictable. Democrats – who are witnessing their lowest public approval numbers in the history of polling – are attempting to once again invalidate the votes of tens of millions of Americans who support the secure borders, lower taxes, and a return to strength on the world stage delivered by Republicans.
“Instead of helping Republicans deliver what the American people voted for – like lower taxes, better-paying jobs, lower costs, and safe neighborhoods for families – Democrats have pursued only one agenda item: a failed project to try and remove President Trump from office. Ignoring the will of American voters is the reason the Democrats are so historically unpopular, and now they are choosing to double down on that failure. The midterm election will be a contrast between common sense and crazy, and the Democrats are demonstrating once again their deranged priorities.
“Ironically, not one of these Democrats breathed a word about the 25th Amendment when they were lying every day to cover up for the dangerous infirmity of President Joe Biden, and his obvious inability to discharge the powers and duties of his office.”
